Cross Browser architecture

The Website has been optimised to be viewed in the following browsers: Google Chrome (version 40 or higher), Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 11), Microsoft Edge (version 12 or higher), Mozilla Firefox (version 35 or higher) and Opera (version 30 or higher).

However, this Website has been built in order to allow for a correct visualisation in almost all browsers (except the Microsoft Internet Explorer versions that are too old - version 6 and 7).

Some features will not work properly if the JavaScript reading, the inline frames and the popups are not enabled. For this reason, it is recommended to enable these features.

Multi-platform

The Website was built according to the best principles of the responsive web design, which allows for an easy accessibility in computers, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and other devices.

 

Interoperability and open standards

The structure of the Website was built in a way that ensures the compliance with the Resolution of the Council of Ministers n. º 91/2012, of 8 November, which establishes the National Digital Interoperability Regulation (RNID).

 

Coding standards

The most recent formats of HTML coding (HTML 5) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) were used in order to ensure that the Website stays technically updated.

 

Communication encryption

All the communications between the Website and the user are encrypted via HTTPS (webpages) and via SMTP with STARTTLS (email). To this end, a certificate issued by the State’s Common Certification Entity (ECCE) is used.

Feedbacks mechanisms

In compliance with the Decree-Law n. º 73/2014, of 13 May, the Website provides feedback mechanisms for the users. The users have access to a submission form for suggestions, complaints or compliments, which can be found in the bottom right corner of this Website.

 

Accessibility

The structure of the Website was also built to obtain the AAA level (highest level) of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), regarding the accessibility standards in Websites.

 

Usability

The structure of this Website was built to ensure most of the usability recommendations for Websites.
